Spain will do the change of time in the autumn of 2018 certainly for the last time after the decision of the European Union and the agreement of the different countries to stop this change in 2019.

This after the passage on summer time 2019.

The time change will occur on the night of Saturday 27 October to Sunday 28 October.

At 3 o'clock in the morning on Sunday, October 28,  it will be 2 o'clock in the morning, just one hour.

You will have 1 hour more sleep between summer time and winter time.

Difference in the Canary Island

Of course, to make it simple, even if it will not affect you, there is a slight exception: The Canary Islands will spend the winter time on the same date, Sunday, October 28 but it is at 2 o'clock morning it will be 1 am!

Why this difference with the Canary Islands

There is a constant time difference between the Canaries and the rest of Spain of 1 hour.

Indeed when it's 11 am in Barcelone, Cadiz, Sevilla and Madrid, it's 10 am in the Canaries.

So to make the transition to winter time at the same time throughout the Spanish territory, it is necessary that this passage takes place "one hour before" in the Canary Islands.

The north-east of Spain was victim especially on October 9, 2018 of heavy rains especially on the coasts like in Barcelona.

Indeed the afternoon of October 9 in the Catalan capital was the scene of heavy rainfall and flooded streets .... again, remember, we were talking about recent phenomena identical.

In Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in the Balearic Islands on the island of Majorca, the images are spectacular like in Barcelona.

In Baleares it fell the equivalent of 4 months of rainfall in just 3 hours in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

There are already 12 dead ( of wich 2 british )  and lot of missing persons this Wednesday morning.

Heavy rains in Spain this Autumn 2018

More generally it's the whole Mediterranean coast that was hit by the rainfall on 9 and 10 October 2018, the Costa del Sol Malaga which was hit the night of 9 to 10 October by heavy downpour of water. Heavy rains too, but to a lesser extent in Aragon and Valencia.

The phenomenon goes from Malaga to Rome and goes back to the French coast. No big improvements planned until this weekend.

Malaga is still on red alert this Wednesday, October 10 with a forecast of 50 mm of water in 1 hour, Girona in Orange also and the other ribs in yellow vigilance.

The North West of Spain will be vigilant rain from tomorrow 11 October 2018.

Be careful to Leslie this weekend of October 13th and 14th

Beyond the forecast precipitation still on Spain and the coasts of Europe for the weekend, what worries meteorologists is Leslie Hurricane who returns to Europe or Africa following the scenarios.

In a scenario, Leslie gets stronger before arriving by the south of Spain and go up violently the Mediterranean ... there we should expect the worst, but we are not there yet fortunately.
