After the huge heat wave in Andalusia in the first half of October, heavy rains mark the beginning of the second half of the month.

The rain appeared shortly after midnight and did not stop until about 6 am. 112 received more than 200 calls due to flooding throughout the province of Cadiz !

Cities hit by floods in Cadiz

Puerto Real, Cadiz, Paterna, Algar, Ubrique, Medina Sidonia and Jerez de la Frontera which is the most affected city, Jerez alone recorded more than 100 emergency calls at 112.

The most "spectacular" place is certainly the Barriada de la Asuncion in Jerez where many vehicles have been built into one another.

Power failure in Cadiz

Schools are closed on October 18 through the city center and the surrounding area of Jerez de la Frontera.

The hospital of Jerez even had a break of electricity more than one hour .

Chipiona, Rota, Sanlucar de baramadena and Arcos de la Frontera also suffered electrical cuts.

Also worth mentioning is Puerto Real which is certainly the most affected "seaside" town with not far from 40 emergency calls.

The least known of the 4 Balearic Islands experienced a big fright this Saturday 1 April 2017 in the afternoon around 13 hours in Menorca.

Indeed a tornado crossed the island of the Balearic Islands on all its southern part.

No victim but lot of materials damages

No victims fortunately, but big damage: uprooted trees, lying signs etc.

A road was cut off by the fall of many trees.

The intense rains accompanying this phenomenon reached a maximum in Mahon with more than 10 liters per square meter !

For those who know the Menorca island, this meteorological training has passed through the beach of Cala Galdana.
