The holy week of Granada is one of the most famous of Andalusia (And that is to say) but also of all Spain.

The dates are Holy Week from Sunday to Holy Saturday after.

For the French it may be confusing but most countries do not have anything to do with our Sunday and Easter Monday holidays that follow the Spanish festivities !!!!

In short, let us return to the subject of the Holy Week in Granada or the highlight of the festivities and especially the event that should not be missed is the Holy Wednesday

Semana Santa Granada: the best day

Indeed, it is the evening of the Holy Wednesday the exit of the Christ of the Gypsies (Cristo de los Gitanos).

This is a very consistent and spectacular procession that lasts for 12 hours. This procession leaves from the Cathedral right in the city center and makes a great tour of the city to the upper part of Sacramonte which is historically the Gitan quarter.

This procession is punctuated part of the night by fires all along the way and Gypsy dances in honor of the Virgin Mary of Santisima de Sacromonte (Virgen Maria de Santisima).

Tips for enjoying this holy week in Granada

Walk around the city by asking for the tour at the tourist offices and especially arrive early in the upper part of the city whose views are spectacular.

We rarely advertise for commercial offers, but there is a good deal for skiers, especially during European school holidays this April 2017 :)

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada in Andalusia, offers to buy day passes by internet on their website between the 3rd and the 9th of April to ski in the end of April between the 17th of April and the 30th of April.

All this for the 20 euros (Be careful 3000 packages are for sale at the moment). These packages are of course not refundable.

Recall of Sierra Nevada Ski Area

We recall that this ski resort of south Spain is near Granada, although in the south of Spain knows a good snow in the heart of Andalusia, in the province of Granada.

When there's no more snow at the bottom of the slopes in Pradollano (1850 meters), no worries, you can start at 2100 meters :))) and up to 3300 meters at the top of the slopes.
